The Man of Sin Exposed

God’s Message to Us is Love, Joy and Peace

The Man of Sin ExposedThe truths of the Bible weren’t written with a heart of hatred or revenge, but with love, joy and peace. The Scriptures speak of God’s great work to redeem His people from sin and destruction. It would be nice to say and teach only the good, positive messages of the Word of God, but along with the virtuous and loving, there is evil in this world and an evil one that needs to be exposed. We must expose this “man of sin.”

The good news is that in receiving the life and death of Jesus in the place of our life and our death, we can find acceptance with God. God sees us as though we have never sinned, because Jesus never sinned. We are counted as perfect because He is perfect. God considers us as having paid for our sins, because Jesus, in our stead, paid for our sins with His death on the cross. We call this justification.

Following justification we find that God will empower us by the Holy Spirit to live better lives. How good must we be? Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden because of only one sin. How then will we be allowed back in Eden if we have but even one sin remaining in our lives? Matthew tells us what Jesus said about man’s ability to obey,

“When his disciples heard [it], they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld [them], and said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26.

“Be therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48.

Every man is to be “perfect in Christ Jesus.”

“To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.” Colossians 1:27

At Jesus’ first coming the people were unprepared. Not only did they reject the truth, they had no idea what the truth was. The truth for that time was the dying of Jesus as a sacrifice for sins, but the people of God thought the Messiah was coming to liberate them. What about now at the end of the world, just before the second coming? Will God’s people be ready for Jesus to come? Do we know what we need to know before Jesus appears? Is it as it was with the Jews in Jesus’ day; are we looking for one event only to have another come in its place? We can be sure that Satan is trying his best to hide the real last-day events from us.

Where Is He Hiding?

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day will not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Remember not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholds that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity does already work: only he who now lets [holds back, restrains} [will restrain], until he is taken out of the way. And then will that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and will destroy with the brightness of his coming: [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3-10

For the last days, the apostle Paul speaks of a “man of sin.” Daniel talks of the Little Horn that works to destroy the true people of God. In the prophetic book of Revelation, John tells us of a beast and its mark. Later, he mentions a woman that rides a seven-headed beast. Who these are will surprise many, even to disbelief. However, this book clearly reveals the secrets of this “man of sin.”

To many, exposing the “man” will not be welcome. And yet, as painful as it might be, he needs to be revealed. The Bible tells us where he lives and some outlandish claims he makes. The apostle Paul wrote about him,

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day will not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4.

Knowing these things is important. We can’t sit back in our chairs of apathy and wait. Entrance into Heaven is no shoo-in. Jesus told us, “Few there be that find it,”

“Enter in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13, 14.
